Using technology to assess
students is a great way of showing them how technology fits into their lives; it also gives the teacher a better view of the
student’s accomplishments and problem areas. When using a chart or spreadsheet program to chart students’ work,
either against themselves or their classmates, it alows students to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie. This would
also allow teachers to see where they need to put their focus on for future lessons.
Students can also benefit from using rubrics in class. There are several websites that help teachers design rubrics
and other assessment tools for lessons. A rubric gives students the information they need in order to receive the best grade.
Students know what each area of a project is worth and what is expected from them in order to receive the A. Students can
also create their own rubric when doing group projects or class evaluations.
